Windows Easy Transfer in Win8.1 dramatically deprecated

Windows 8.1 ships with a dramatically less functional version of the Microsoft "Windows Easy Transfer" application.
It will now only be able to import data, never export it.
It is also now limited to only transferring simple files. It cannot transfer any settings and of course could never transfer applications like Orlogix's Transfer MyPC can.
The options of how to transfer have also been cut with the only remaining option being an external file storage device such as a USB key.
For the vast majority of users this will greatly decrease the amount of files they can migrate in practical time frames.

Microsoft have stated they are deprecating Windows Easy Transfer in favour of very strongly pushing customers to use the Microsoft cloud to store all their files and settings.
A clear example of this in Windows 8.1 is that all files will now be saved directly and only to the cloud by default unless the user configures the operating system otherwise.
